Seeing Ireland through the eyes of the man I love was even better than experiencing it myself. Lance probably hadnât noticed how much he paid attention to every small detail now, when at first, heâd ignored most of the sites weâd gone to in Dublin, and tried to act like he enjoyed it. Now he savored it all, from the hotel weâd stayed in, to the bridge weâd driven over several times now.
âWhatâs on the agenda for today?â he asked, as we ate breakfast at the hotel. Weâd be spending the latter part of the day with his family, so to get an early start we opted to eat here today.
âWell, I thought we could start with the Titanic Museum and decide what we want to do next.â
âThat sounds great, it looks like thereâs a lot to do around there.â
âYes, and Iâm really enjoying seeing it all by car. Think of all the things weâve seen along the way. I mean besides the type of mortar they used to build the walls along the side of the road,â I said, making Lance laugh.
âIâm getting better at driving. Yesterday wasnât so bad, was it?â
He was so sweet and seeing him enjoy himself was something I wanted to soak up while we were here. I kissed his cheek and nuzzled his neck before I answered. âI think youâre doing a great job. I admit itâs something I wouldnât have wanted to try.â
We finished eating and were waiting for a cup of coffee to go before weâd decided on a few things we wanted to do that were all in the same area as the museum.
âI like the idea of going to Waterford. I noticed weâll drive through Kilkenny again,â Lance said.
âOkay then thatâs what weâll do. I know we can find lots of things to do along the way, and if we see something interesting, we can pull off and check it out.â Our coffees were ready, and we were in the car driving the same route weâd driven yesterday while I googled as he drove and hummed along to the radio to a random song Iâd never heard. It felt so familiar to be driving around in a different country and enjoying it all. And if the smile on Lanceâs face told me anything, Iâd say he felt the same way.
We chatted most of the way there, and after finding a parking space we walked around the downtown area before deciding where weâd go. After two museums, a cathedral, and two more cups of coffee we were both ready to go back to Castlecomer.
âLetâs see if we can find dessert to share with everyone,â Lance said as we walked past a small bakery. After deciding on a cake that the baker assured us would be the best weâd ever had, we were back on the road headed to the hotel.
âAre you ready for this?â I asked Lance as we drove through town.
âI think so, but Iâm glad weâre back early. I think Iâll go see if Joseph has room to store the cake.
